How to replace the fans on the GTX 560Ti
Turns out these fans are prone to fail sooner or later.
Even thought they state they have “long life bearing”. Marketing lies. Mine seized after 4 years of vigorous gaming.
Do not dispair! There is a solution. You don’t have to shell hundreds of euros for a new card. You can replace just the fans. Here’s how:
Get a new set. Try ebay. Usually you can find a pair for just €8 delivered. Search for “twin frozr fans”
Remove the old fans.
In order to do that you have to unscrew the 3 screws in each fan that hold them on the heatsink.
Locate the connection tab on the lower-right corner and unplug it.
Unscrew the 2 of the 4 screws that hold the top cover.
In order to do that, flip the card over so that you can see the PCB.
Then unscrew the 2 screws shown here. Forget the other 2, they’re too hard to reach.
No you can lift the cover a bit just enough to slip through the cable of the old fans. Or if you can’t be bothered, just cut it.
Completely remove the old pair of fans and bin them.
place the new pair of fans through the gap of the top cover, screw them in place, screw the cover back in place, tidy-up the cables, plug the connector and you’re set.
This should take around 15 minutes at most.
